Nathan Brown must be shaking his head: where was this Knights team last week?
Newcastle decided to play like a team in (mathematical) top eight contention by carving up the Titans on a sodden pitch for Old Boys Day at McDonald Jones Stadium.
While Mitchell Pearce and Mitch Barnett have been electric, the standout from the Knights clinical first half performance was against the run of play, with Hymel Hunt finishing off a length of the field effort.
A fifth tackle option for the Titans looked promising when they spread the ball right from Newcastle’s 40 metre line, with Titans winger Jesse Arthurs kicking the ball back infield for a flying Ryley Jacks – who’d already scored in the third minute.
An errant offload from Tyrone Peachey, after receiving the ball from his halves partner, and it all went south for the Gold Coast.
Quickly.
Watch the electrifying counter-attack below.
Kallum Watkins may not sleep tonight after that fend. What it lacked in severity it made up for in effectiveness.
It’s official: the Knights need to sack their coach before every round.
A huge shoutout to the 8,274 fans who braved the conditions today!#GoHardGoKnights #20Knighteen #NRLKnightsTitans pic.twitter.com/NLsFpqf7Z9

Or play the Titans.
At time of writing, Newcastle lead 38-4.
