It was a tough Prime Minister's XIII debut for Lachlan Galvin, the heir to the throne at the Wests Tigers.
He struggled early in the match against PNG, before being replaced with Luke Brooks, who immediately gave the team an injection of energy.
But despite his struggles, one NRL legend has come to his defence.
NRL great defends rising star after poor PMs XIII showing
Lachlan Galvin struggled in the PM's XIII match over the weekend, but according to Panthers legend Greg Alexander, the 19-year-old was not deserving of the level of criticism he received.
"Can everyone stop talking about Lachie Galvin, who just finished his first season," Alexander said on SEN.
"[He] played the PM XIII on the weekend and picked at five-eighth, can we stop saying he is going to be a back-rower.
Can we just let him play five-eighth for as long as he wants?
"But let him go, let him do his stuff in the No.6."
Despite Galvin's bumps, he and the Australian PM's XIII defeated PNG 42-20.
