NRL fans have given their response to Sunday night's grand final pre-game entertainment, with the game paying tribute to the iconic Tina Turner prior to kickoff between the Panthers and Broncos.

In the wake of the legendary singer's passing earlier this year, the league harkened back to their famous campaign in the late-1980s and early-1990s, with the cast of the official musical honouring Turner playing some of her biggest hits.

The tribute followed a performance from Australian band King Stingray, who performed their own version of 'Down Under' at Accor Stadium.

The reaction was mostly on the positive end of the scale, while some were disappointed considering the fact the AFL had KISS perform a day earlier at the MCG

Some of the praise on social media directed towards the Turner tribute described it as the best pre-game entertainment in many years for an NRL decider.

Some fans however took some light-hearted jabs at the choices in comparison to the other major football code.

Brisbane and Penrith took to the field shortly after the musical performances, with the 'Welcome To Country' and national anthem kicking off proceedings in front of a sold-out crowd.
