NRL Finals Week 2: Five standout performers from NSW Cup and QLD Cup image

The Brisbane Tigers broke a 32-year premiership drought with their Queensland Cup grand final win over the Burleigh Bears.

They only scored three tries to their opponents' four but were able to emerge victorious 22-18 at Kayo Stadium in Redcliffe.

South of the border, the second spot in the NSW Cup decider was snapped up by the North Sydney Bears, defeating the New Zealand Warriors 28-24.

They will now face the South Sydney Rabbitohs in next week's grand final.

The Sporting News has picked five standout performers from the NSW Cup and QLD Cup over the weekend.

Jordan Grant - Brisbane Tigers

In a 48-minute performance at prop, Grant was crucial to the Tigers' grand final victory.

His 141 run metres were the most on his team, averaging an impressive 11.75 metres per carry.

On the defensive end, he was strong as well, making 28 tackles and missing just one.

The 29-year-old was sin-binned in the dying stages, however, his side was able to see out the win.

Keano Kini - Burleigh Bears

Despite being on the losing side, Kini was arguably the best player on the field on Sunday.

The fullback was electric with the ball in hand, running for a game-high 245 metres and making nine tackle breaks.

He also contributed with a try assist and went the entire match without making an error.

You can't ask for much more from your No. 1.

Jonah Pezet - Brisbane Tigers

A perfect goal-kicking display from Pezet played a major factor in the Queensland Cup final result.

The halfback slotted all three of his conversions while also scoring two penalty goals.

Despite the Bears scoring one more try than the Tigers, they only made one of their four conversions, which ultimately saw them lose the game.

Pezet's ability to remain calm under pressure should be commended.

Jesse Marschke - North Sydney Bears

Marschke was at the heart of the Bears' attack on Saturday as they edged past the Warriors.

The five-eighth crossed just seven minutes in before securing his double in the second half.

He was effective with his boot too, making six kicks for 219 metres.

His stat sheet also included 121 run metres and six tackle breaks.

Tom Ale - New Zealand Warriors

Another case of standing out despite being on the losing side, Ale was immense for the Warriors.

He played all 80 metres at lock and ran for 242 metres — a game-high.

The New Zealand-born player led the way when it came to physicality, recording 24 hit-ups.

His performance was rounded out by his 96 per cent tackling efficiency and ability to go the entire match without making an error.
