Dallin Watene-Zelezniak has capped off a remarkable career resurgence, inking a one-year extension with the New Zealand Warriors.

Fresh off the best season of his NRL journey, the 28-year-old has moved to secure his future at the start of the November open market period, re-signing with the club until the end of 2025.

Watene-Zelezniak crossed for a franchise record 24 tries in 20 matches this season, helping lead the Wahs to a top-four berth and prelim final appearance.

The long-haired flyer will join the likes of Marcelo Montoya and Wayde Egan in re-committing to the side.

In a statement released on Wednesday morning, general manager of recruitment Andrew McFadden praised the Kiwi winger for his commitment to the club's success.

“Dallin has made a tremendous impact on and off the field since joining us in the challenging times when we were based in Australia,” he said.

“Like a number of players, he really flourished once we returned home for the 2023 season.”

As well as crossing for a litany of tries, Watene-Zelezniak also averaged over 150 run metres per game, proving to be a threat to opposition defences at both ends of the field.

Warriors coach Andrew Webster spoke highly of DWZ and his impact on the team's performances.

“What Dallin showed to everyone is how much it meant for him and his family being back in New Zealand,” he said.

“He stood out as one of the best wingers in the competition, if not the best. His yardage carries were unbelievable while the tries, and the way he scored so many of them, were the icing on the cake.

“Not only that, his defence came a long way with how reliable he is, understanding where he’s got to be for the team, to make the right decision.”
