Brad Fittler and Billy Slater have both named their State of Origin lineups for the series opener, with plenty of shocks and tough decisions involving big-name players.
Most notably, Kalyn Ponga has been axed by the Maroons along with Knights teammate Dane Gagai, while the omission of Campbell Graham from the Blues lineup left many fans puzzled.
Penrith and Brisbane will be forced to go through the Origin period with a number of key absences, while clubs like the Tigers and Dragons only have one player representing them.
Here's how each NRL club will be impacted by the Origin opener.
MORE: State of Origin Game 1 confirmed team lists
Which clubs have the most State of Origin players?
Penrith Panthers - 6 players
As expected, Penrith will be the side facing the toughest State of Origin period, with six players selected for NSW.
Nathan Cleary and Jarome Luai will start in the halves for the Blues, while Brian To'o has been selected on the wing once again.
Isaah Yeo will wear the No.13 jumper for NSW, while second-rower Liam Martin will come off the bench. Stephen Crichton has been included in the extended squad.
Brisbane Broncos - 5 players
The early-season form of the Broncos has seen two fresh faces in the QLD lineup, with Reece Walsh winning the race for the fullback spot and Tom Flegler named in the front-row.
Patrick Carrigan will start at lock for the Maroons, while Payne Haas has again been picked at prop for NSW.
Selwyn Cobbo retains his place on the wing for Queensland after his debut series in 2022.
North Queensland Cowboys - 4 players
Despite their shaky form throughout the opening 12 rounds of the season, North Queensland will again have a strong representation in the Maroons squad.
Murray Taulagi, Valentine Holmes and Reuben Cotter have all retained their spots in the side for the series opener, while playmaker Tom Dearden has been named as 18th man.
South Sydney Rabbitohs - 3 players
Despite some notable players surprisingly missing out on selection for NSW, South Sydney will still feel the impact of the Origin period.
Cameron Murray and Latrell Mitchell will both line up for the Blues, while experienced forward Jai Arrow retains his spot in the Queensland side.
Melbourne Storm - 3 players
While the days of Melbourne accounting for half the QLD side are gone, Cameron Munster and Harry Grant are still in the 17 for the upcoming series opener.
Christian Welch has been overlooked for the side, but has been named in the wider squad.
Gold Coast Titans - 2 players
After being left out for last year's series, David Fifita will be back on deck for the Maroons after starting the season in brilliant form for the Titans.
Tino Fa'asuamaleaui has also been selected on the bench for Queensland.
Sydney Roosters - 2 players
It's somewhat surprising to see just two players from the powerhouse club featured in the Origin arena.
James Tedesco will once again captain the Blues from the fullback spot, while Lindsay Collins earns the starting front-row role for Queensland.
Canterbury Bulldogs - 2 players
Josh Addo-Carr has been recalled for the Blues after being overlooked in 2022, overcoming an ankle injury to take his place on the wing.
And in a major shock, Tevita Pangai Junior will make his Origin debut in the front-row for NSW.
Manly Sea Eagles - 2 players
Due to the absence of Jake Trbojevic, Manly will only have two players lining up in the Origin opener.
Tom Trbojevic has put to bed any concerns over his fitness and will start in the centres for NSW, while the ever-reliable Daly Cherry-Evans will lead the Maroons once again in the No.7 jumper.
Dolphins - 2 players
In their first season, the Dolphins will have two players lining up in the Origin arena.
Ex-Cowboys players Tom Gilbert and Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow have both been in brilliant form and have been named in the starting lineup for Queensland.
St George Illawarra Dragons - 1 player
Who else but Ben Hunt? The inspirational Dragons captain will again start at hooker for Queensland after his heroics in last year's series.
Wests Tigers - 1 player
For the first time since 2017, Wests Tigers will have a player in the NSW Origin side after Api Koroisau earned the starting hooker role.
Canberra Raiders - 1 player
Hard-nosed forward Hudson Young will make his State of Origin debut in the series opener, and will be the only Canberra player in the match following Jack Wighton and Josh Papalii's retirement.
Newcastle Knights - 1 player
After missing the past two series, Tyson Frizell will return for the Blues in the second-row. He will be the only Knights player featured after Kalyn Ponga and Dane Gagai were axed by Queensland.
Cronulla Sharks - 1 player
Despite finishing in the top-four last season and proving to be a strong force once again this year, Cronulla's only player in the Origin opener will be reigning Dally M Medal winner, Nicho Hynes.
Parramatta Eels - 1 player
Last year's grand finalists will have just one player featuring at Adelaide Oval on May 31st, with front-rower Junior Paulo selected on the bench for NSW.
New Zealand Warriors - No players
No major surprises here, with the Warriors littered with non-eligible players. Dylan Walker and Josh Curran were both considered outside chances of earning selection.
