The wait is finally over. The opening round is here, with the first 'Team List Tuesday' dropping ahead of what is sure to be eight exciting fixtures to kick off another blockbuster NRL season. 

The Roosters and Sharks have suffered major blows with key men sidelined for the first week of action, while Wayne Bennett has made the decision to hand a young gun a start.

Bryce Cartwright and Matt Doorey have been named on the edges to replace Isaiah Papali'i and Shaun Lane (jaw), while J'maine Hopgood starts at lock in place of Ryan Matterson (suspension) in an all-new back row for the Eels. 

Former Canberra captain Josh Hodgson replaces Reed Mahoney at hooker, while there are places on the bench for fellow new recruits Jack Murchie and Jirah Momoisea

Bailey Simonsson (shoulder) was initially named in the side on Tuesday, but has been replaced by Isaac Lumelume 24 hours prior to kickoff.

Storm team news: 

The nucleus of the side remains the same, but the loss of the majority of the Storm's experienced forward pack will leave a big hole.

Craig Bellamy has opted to hand new signing Eliesa Katoa a starting spot in the backrow with Trent Loiero named on the opposite edge. Josh King takes over at lock after the exit of Brandon Smith

Will Warbrick's strong form in the trials has been rewarded with a start on the wing, while Young Tonumaipea claims a spot in the centres in place of Justin Olam who suffered a broken arm in the trials. 

Ryan Papenhuyzen (knee) is joined on the sidelines by experienced trio Tariq Sims (calf), Tepai Moeroa (toe) and Tui Kamikamica (tendon). 

Bronson Garlick is set to make his NRL debut after being a late addition to the bench. Chris Lewis drops back to 18th man.

An abundance of fresh faces for the Warriors, including new head coach Andrew Webster.

Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad will get first crack at the fullback spot, while Te Maire Martin will partner Shaun Johnson in the halves.

Marata Niukore and Jackson Ford form a new edge-forward duo following their summer moves while Mitch Barnett starts at prop. 

Brayden Wiliame has won the race for a centre spot, as Dylan Walker brings plenty of experience to the utility role.

Dallin Watene-Zelezniak has been ruled out after initially being named on the wing with a calf complaint meaning Edward Kosi has taken his place.

Knights team news:

Jackson Hastings will start in the No.7 jumper, alongside his new halves partner Kalyn Ponga

The Queenslander will play at five-eighth for the first time in four years with Lachlan Miller signed from Cronulla to cover fullback. 

In another significant change to the backline, Dane Gagai (hamstring) will miss the clash and is replaced by Enari Tuala. Greg Marzhew isn't in the squad. 

Adam Elliott and Jack Hetherington (shoulder) will add plenty of punch to the forward pack but will have to do so from the bench in the opening round.

Panthers team news:

A few big losses for the premiers, with both Api Koroisau and Viliame Kikau moving on from their premiership-winning side last season. 

Luke Garner is a handy pick-up in the back-row and has won the battle with Zac Hosking for a spot on an edge, while Mitch Kenny and Soni Luke will work in tandem to try and replicate Koroisau's work at dummy-half. 

Liam Martin (knee) and Dylan Edwards (hamstring) both missed their side's World Club Challenge loss to St Helens but are fit to take their places in round one. 

Taylan May (ACL) will miss the entire season after being injured during that game against Saints. Sunia Turuva will take his place on the wing.

Reece Walsh will have to wait at least another week to make his Broncos debut after the fullback was ruled out with a facial fracture.

"Walshie is not quite ready to go...it is 27 rounds, and we will rest him up," Patrick Carrigan revealed on Monday. 

Selwyn Cobbo will claim the No.1 jersey, with the returning Jesse Arthars taking the vacant wing spot. 

Kobe Hetherington (biceps) will miss the start of the season due to injury, while new recruit Martin Taupau has earned a spot on the bench alongside utility Cory Paix

Reed Mahoney will replace the departed Jeremy Marshall-King at hooker, while Viliame Kikau and Ryan Sutton start in a new-look forward pack. 

Tevita Pangai Junior (calf) and Luke Thompson (ankle) have both been ruled out for extended periods. Chris Patolo is also sidelined, leaving the side without three of their front-row options.

But in another big injury blow for the Raiders, Josh Papalii (calf) misses out with former Knights young gun Pasami Saulo starting at prop in his place. 

Danny Levi has won the battle to be starting hooker as Zac Woolford has dropped down to the reserves.

Titans team news:

Massive blow for the Titans on the eve of the NRL season, with second-rower Beau Fermor (ACL) set to miss the entire season. 

Jayden Campbell is the unlucky man to miss out on a starting role, with AJ Brimson better suited at fullback. Kieran Foran will slot into the five-eighth spot alongside Tanah Boyd at halfback.

Sam Verrills will become the Titans' first-choice hooker, with Erin Clark included on the bench.

Patrick Herbert (knee) and Brian Kelly (suspension) will both be sidelined for the start of the season which has allowed Alofiana Khan-Pereira to come in and make his NRL debut on the wing.

Dragons team news:

Talatau Amone will miss the start of the season after being stood down by the NRL.

Jayden Sullivan (hamstring) is battling an injury in pre-season but could be fit to play in the opening round. Jack Bird (knee) is in doubt for the Dragons early games after undergoing minor surgery for a meniscus issue.

Andrew McCullough has officially hung up the boots, which will likely see Jacob Liddle grab the No.9 role to start the year - although watch out for young gun Haele Finau, who has moved to the club during pre-season.

Cody Ramsey will not feature this season after being hospitalised with ulcerative colitis, which opens the door for Tyrell Sloan to return.

Jack de Belin should move back into his preferred position of lock on a permanent basis, while new recruit Ben Murdoch-Masila is likely to start in the backrow.
