NRL 2020: Sydney Roosters coach Trent Robinson disappointed with second half performance despite thumping victory image

Sydney Roosters coach Trent Robinson admitted that he was disappointed in his side's second-half showing despite a thumping 42-6 victory over the Bulldogs.

The Roosters dominated the Bulldogs from the start, putting on three tries in the opening 15 minutes to take control of the match, with James Tedesco crossing for a hat-trick.

Despite this, Robinson suggests that the second-half became a slower contest due to their poor handling and execution, calling for calmness as they look to convert their opportunities into points.

“We started the game as we wanted to both from starters and the bench,” Robinson said post-match.

“But second half, it was just a slower game from our point of view, there was no rhythm from us, which was our own fault, which ended up slowing the game down,

“We created quite a few, bungled some, had a couple of errors in the play-the-ball.

“I thought our application the whole half was good but our execution wasn’t as good in the second half and it ended up costing us a try and some points against us.

“We had two play-the-balls in that period, there were opportunities there and I would’ve liked us to show a little more calmness.”

With the back-to-back premiers still getting used to life without Cooper Cronk, Robinson believes that they need to 'learn how to dance again' as they continue to build on their combinations.

“We’ve been working hard on our combinations and knowing how to move together and that was good,” he said.

“There are still many games to go and there is much more that I would like to see,

“It’s hard to see but subtleties that I would like to see in our game that keeps improving but the first thing is to understand the system, learn how to dance together now and add more and more to it and now we want to keep doing that."

They will get the opportunity to do so when they take on the Parramatta Eels on Saturday, a side which many believe are their main threats towards securing an elusive three-peat.

Whilst he suggests that the game will rightfully get blown up externally, he admitted that he is treating the game like any other, reaffirming that they respect each opponent regardless of their stature.

“To be honest, I was looking forward to tonight the same that I was looking forward to Saturday,” he believes.

“It’ll be externally really built up and great it should be,

“For us, we respect every opponent as you can see so we will attack Saturday night, get some recovery and we can’t wait for it.
