The fourth week's action ended with Melbourne the last ones standing in the undefeated club - but only just.
The Bulldogs pushed the Storm all the way at AAMI Park, but the hosts snuck away with a two-point win.
There were larger wins in particular for Canberra and Parramatta, with both clubs making an inspired case for a 2019 rebirth following garbage 2018 campaigns.
Aside from Melbourne winning, one other thing remained the same - Gold Coast losing, with the Titans still winless.
Check out Sporting News' team of the week from the fourth round of the 2019 NRL season.
FULLBACK
James Tedesco and Roger Tuivasa-Sheck both had big games, but the line honours went to Eels skipper Clint Gutherson, who led his side to a stirring win over the Sharks. Gutherson ran for days - 249 metres, to be exact - and made a line break, line break assist and try assist in his side's 24-12 win. He's everywhere, man.
WINGERS
Blake Ferguson's good form shouldn't be called good form anymore. He's a good player. He didn't score any tries against the Sharks, but managed 240 run metres and 66 post contact metres. He has quickly become indispensable to the Eels' cause in 2019, much like Jordan Rapana to the Raiders. You wouldn't think the Kiwi international buggered his shoulder last year. Against the Cowboys, Rapana scored two tries, broke four tackles and ran for 178 metres. Busy boy.
CENTRES
When Joseph Leilua is playing well, Canberra are playing well. When Leilua and Rapana are playing well, Canberra are near-unbeatable. Leilua broke five tackles and scored a try in his side's 30-12 win over North Queensland. Another renaissance man in Michael Jennings is also enjoying this season after a rubbish 2018. The 262-game veteran showed his class in Parramatta's win over Cronulla, crossing the line twice as the Eels improved to a 3-1 record.
HALVES
Cameron Munster is on a roll. With 12 minutes remaining, Munster scored a sensational try to take the game away from a spirited Bulldogs side to keep the Storm undefeated in 2019. A player born four days later than Munster, Mitchell Moses, is also showing experience above his years. Moses has firmed as chief game-manager for Parramatta in 2019, and is running the show as the Eels continue to make a serious bid for glory this season. Still early days, but if Moses keeps it up, Parra can be a dangerous prospect come September.
PROPS
209 run metres, 73 post contact metres, five tackle breaks. One of the comp's more underrated props, Sio Siua Taukeiaho, tore the Broncos pack to bits. Two days later, Junior Paulo did a similar job on Cronulla as the injury-hit Sharks had no answers.
HOOKER
Josh Hodgson is another player crucial to Canberra's cause. The Englishman made 43 tackles and kept the Raiders on the right track as the Cowboys ran out of answers on their home turf.
SECOND ROW
Boyd Cordner put in one of his better games with 169 run metres - including 57 post contact metres and three tackle breaks - as the Roosters pack monstered the Broncos. Nearly half of Marata Niukore's run metres were post contact metres, with the Cook Islands international a punish for the Sharks to try and control.
LOCK
45 tackles and 110 run metres against the undefeated Rabbitohs. What can't Jake Trbojevic do? A lock for NSW's Origin 13 - pun completely intended.
