NRL 2019: Round 24 Team of the Week image

With a mouth-watering finals series looming, some of the game's biggest stars showed up when their side's needed them most in round 24.

Blake Ferguson was back to his entertaining best, while James Tedesco showed once again why he seen as a certainty for the Dally M medal this season. But they weren't the only big names to produce the goods this week.

Check out  Sporting News'  Round 24 Team of the Week below.

FULLBACK

After an astonishing State of Origin series, most were thinking James Tedesco had to have reached his peak this season, but the superstar Roosters fullback has gotten bigger and better with every week. Against a helpless Panthers side, Tedesco ran 18 times for 179 metres, picking up five tackle-breaks, three offloads and a try for the tricolours, in what was a well-rounded effort under the lights at the SCG.

WINGERS

Parramatta were unable to get the chocolates against the Broncos on Friday night, but their freakish winger duo highlighted how dangerous the Eels can be in attack. In his long-awaited return from a shoulder infection, Blake Ferguson was at his entertaining best, producing a freak mid-air try in his side's second-half comeback, whilst running for 145 metres with three tackle breaks and a line break.

On the other side, Maika Sivo was unstoppable, producing his 17th try of the season, whilst running for a mammoth 209 metres for six tackle-breaks, two offloads and two linebreaks.

CENTRES

Papua New Guinean international Justin Olam continues to prove his value to the Storm on their left edge, after picking up a hattrick to go along with his 119 run metres, seven tackle breaks. Meanwhile, Tigers centre Paul Momirovski ran circles around the hapless Dragons, and also crossed the stripe for a hattrick at the SCG.

HALVES

Benji Marshall , like a fine red, continues to get better with every week. With Robbie Farah sidelined with a leg fracture, Marshall has carried the Tigers on his shoulders alongside Luke Brooks, and was at it again in his side's emphatic 28-point trashing of the Dragons. The veteran Tiger set up two crucial tries and crossed for one himself, as the Tigers continue to march towards a possible finals return.

For the Raiders, Aidan Sezer proved the difference in his side's win over Cronulla, kicking three vital field goals, including the 85th-minute winner that secured the Green Machine a top-four finish.

HOOKER

The Rabbitohs snapped their losing streak and it was off the back of  Damien Cook  brilliance as he bagged a try and made 50 tackles in a trademark performance. He also set up the exceptional try for Cody Walker in the second half that turned the game on its head and went a long way to giving the Bunnies the two points.

PROPS

Payne Haas  was eating metres against Parramatta on Friday night, and showed why many are calling him the next best forward in the game. The rising front-rower ran for an unstoppable 224 metres to help his side overcome the Eels at Suncorp Stadium.

In the same vein, Storm prop Nelson Asofa-Solomona was in beast mode against rivals Manly, with the Kiwi big man crossing for a try along with two linebreaks, two offloads, three tackle-breaks and 97 metres.

SECOND ROW

With a contract extension looming, young Broncos enforcer David Fifita added a few more zero's to his next deal with his effort against the Eels. The edge forward scored a try, and made a game-high 16 tackle-breaks.

Raiders second-rower John Bateman continues to show why he is the league's buy of the season, after the Englishman produced a typical workman's performance against the Sharks that included 184 metres and 37 tackles.

LOCK

Cameron Murray was dominant in the Rabbitohs' win over the Warriors on Friday, with the Origin lock scoring two tries, running for 127 metres and making 27 tackles.
