'Not going anywhere': Titans veteran Isaac Liu shuts down recent rumours image

Isaac Liu has shut down suggestions that he wants to leave the Titans, reassuring the club he is fully committed for the 2023 season.

The veteran middle-forward joined the Gold Coast last season on a three-year deal, adding plenty of experience and depth to the side.

But recent rumours regarding a potential move to the New Zealand Warriors have prompted a quick response from Liu, who is signed with the Titans until at least the end of 2024.

In a statement released on the club's website, the 31-year-old refuted claims he was seeking an early release.

"I'm not going anywhere, that's for sure," he said.

"I was at the beach when I got a call about it. I had no idea.

"I don't have any social media like Facebook or Instagram, so I didn't see any of the posts that said I was supposedly going to the Warriors.

"None of it is true...I'm fully committed here at the Titans."

Liu has played well over 200 NRL games, winning two premierships with the Roosters and representing the Kiwis on 10 occasions since 2017.

With the additions of Kieran Foran and Sam Verrills to the Titans lineup for this year, along with a talented core group of young stars, Liu is looking forward to the challenge and helping the club return to the finals.

"It's another good challenge," he said.

"There's a group of young players coming through and they need that guidance in those tough games, but also not just as a player, but as a person and a leader as well.

"It's great to help them get through those new challenges and also guide them on the right path.

"I was just chatting to Foz about how much of a young group we have and how exciting it will be once we get everyone on the same page and start building the basics.

"When we start getting our footy together, we should have a really good side and will hopefully play more consistently to win more games.

"I am super excited to have Sam Verrills join us. Having him here and the experience he has...we've played together numerous times and he's got sharp ball service that's on point.

"He's got good vision of footy too, so I'm really excited to have him there to guide us around the park at hooker."
