The Warriors have pinched talented forward Josh Curran from the Sydney Roosters on an immediate deal.

The aggressive, headgear-donning back-rower has agreed to remain with the New Zealand club until at least 2021.

Curran, who turned 20 earlier this month, made his NRL debut in round four this season and is yet to add to his tally.

But his performances in reserve grade caught the eye of Warriors general manager Brian Smith, who said Curran is a great replacement for departed centre Solomone Kata in the club's top 30 squad.

“We’ve been watching Josh closely and he’ll give us more depth among our back-row options,” he said.

“He’s an accomplished player who has excelled in every age group, representing New South Wales at under-16, under-18 and under-20 level as well as playing for the New South Wales Residents against Queensland this year.”

Able to play on the edge or in the middle, Curran will push for a spot in Stephen Kearney's 10th-placed side as they look to break into the top eight.

The Parramatta junior has been solid for the Roosters' feeder team, North Sydney, in the Intrust Super Premiership, averaging 87 metres from eight carries per match while tackling at an efficiency rate of 86.7 per cent.
