The injury issues at Melbourne Storm continue to mount with prop Nelson Asofa-Solomona suffering an injury in Round 2's 26-12 loss to Canterbury Bulldogs.

The front-rower will be sidelined for an extended period in a major blow for the club.

What injury does Nelson Asofa-Solomona have?

The 27-year-old suffered a high-grade MCL injury in his knee during the second half against the Bulldogs, with the Storm 26-0 down at the time.

Asofa-Solomona was seen grabbing at his knee soon after scoring a try and headed to the change rooms soon after - not returning to the field of play.

When will Nelson Asofa-Solomona return from injury?

In a social media post sent by the Storm, Asofa-Solomona had originally been ruled out for 6-8 weeks with the MCL injury.

This meant the prop would miss matches against Gold Coast (away), Tigers (home), Rabbitohs (away), Roosters (home), Sea Eagles (away, Warriors (home) and Rabbitohs (home).

However, Craig Bellamy has now provided the latest update on his star forward's condition that is likely to see him ruled him out for longer than first expected.

“It was about six weeks to start with but the scan showed it’s a little bit worse than first thought, so it’s going to be more like eight to 10 (weeks)," he said on the eve of his side's clash with the Titans.

"He’s going to miss a fair spell."
