Knights forward Mitch Barnett will miss at least three games for his ugly crusher tackle on Storm fullback Jahrome Hughes after picking up a grade three dangerous contact charge.
Barnett lifted Hughes and slammed him down on his head and neck with all his body weight, with Melbourne players taking exception as they ran in to protect their teammate.
The grade three charge means Barnett will miss five weeks if he chooses to fight it at the judiciary and loses it, but will sit out for just three weeks with an early guilty plea.
Fox League commentator Braith Anasta correctly predicted Barnett would face a lengthy suspension.
"He's in big trouble. Barnett is in a lot of trouble here," Anasta said.
"It's unnecessary. The tackle is complete. And just [landing] on his head, you know, that's horrible.
"He'll be sitting and watching the next few weeks.
" ... We don't want this in our game at all."
The incident has been compared to a similar tackle by Sharks prop Andrew Fifita who was charged with grade two dangerous contact after Thursday's match against Canberra.
Fifita has elected to fight the offence at the judiciary in a bid to play for Tonga during next weekend's representative round.
