Manly Sea Eagles v Canterbury Bulldogs: NRL Bunker deny try, fans claim referees are "making up rules" image

Wait, wait, wait, what? We glossed over that very quickly.

Manly have been denied a try in the third minute of their round 22 clash against the Bulldogs because of an incredibly odd rule that had everyone scratching their heads.

With the Sea Eagles on the attack at Brookvale Oval, which had been renamed McGrath Foundation Stadium for the match against Canterbury, Tom Trbojevic appeared to do some great work that led to a Moses Suli try.

Unfortunately for Manly, the Bunker became involved and took the four-pointer away.

With Martin Taupau making one of his trademark barnstorming runs and offloads, Turbo purposely knocked the ball up and away from David Klemmer so that he gained possession.

Tommy then shifts the ball wide which eventually ends up in the hands of Suli who crossed the chalk. The referee, Chris Sutton, went upstairs but awarded the try.

In the end, the Bunker overturned the decision because Turbo knocked the ball to himself.

But, when is Trbojevic meant to do in this scenario considering a huge prop forward was also going to challenge for the ball?

Watch the incident in the video player below.

"He knocks it forward there Trbojevic, and he seems to do it on purpose," Braith Anasta said on Fox League's commentary.

"He knocks it over Klemmer's arm."

Steve 'Blocker' Roach was bemused with the decision.

"They're not going to allow this try, but what's Trbojevic meant to do there because Klemmer was going for the football too?" Blocker asked.

Daly Cherry-Evans went to the referee to question the decision with an astounded look on his face, but, much to his surprise, was told that that was the rules.

Twitter was equally perplexed.
