Parramatta star Maika Sivo has re-signed for a further two years, keeping him at the club until at least the end of 2025.

The Fijian international has been a revelation for the Eels since making his debut in 2019, scoring 67 tries in 84 appearances and causing plenty of headaches for rival wingers.

Sivo was off-contract at the end of this season and likely to attract plenty of interest from other NRL sides, but has opted to sign an extension with the blue and gold.

Eels general manager of football Mark O'Neill said the decision was a positive one for the Eels prior to the season kicking off on Thursday night.

“Maika is such a powerful athlete who is not only difficult to contain but he can score tries from almost impossible positions," he said.

“He is one of a handful of players in the NRL who can bring the crowd to their feet during a match.

"The noise and atmosphere at CommBank Stadium is unforgettable when Maika scores a try.

“With a young family, we are glad that Maika has extended his time at the Eels and we look forward to celebrating more milestones together.”

The 29-year-old joins the likes of Dylan Brown and Will Penisini in securing their long-term future with Parramatta, with just one of the club's big names still remaining without a deal for 2024 and beyond.

Mitchell Moses' future is yet to be decided, with both a multi-million dollar offer from the Tigers and a long-term extension on the table for the superstar halfback.

Parramatta will open their NRL campaign with a clash against competition heavyweights Melbourne on Thursday night.
