Newcastle host Manly on Sunday with the added bonus of having two of their representative stars still with them after Kalyn Ponga and Dane Gagai were surprisingly overlooked for Queensland selection.

Adam O'Brien has decided to switch Ponga to fullback after the Knights' talisman once again copped a head knock while operating at five-eighth during last weekend's loss to the Sharks.

The Sea Eagles will be without their star No.1, Tom Trbojevic, after he put in his best performance of the season on the eve of Origin selection against the Raiders.

Anthony Seibold will also be without his halfback, Daly Cherry-Evans, who will captain the Maroons for the series opener on Wednesday.
