Kane Evans has joined English Super League side Hull FC after being released from the final year of his contract with the Warriors earlier this month.
The 29-year-old forward has signed with Hull FC on a two-year deal and said he's excited to test himself in a new environment.
"To have signed my deal and to be on my way over there soon is a massive opportunity for me and I can’t wait to get started with the club," Evans said.
"I’ve always wanted to test myself on the other side of the world in Super League. From what I have heard from some of the boys I know who already play in Super League say that the forwards tend to be much bigger.
"It is a new test for me to challenge myself against some of the big names on the other side of the world, and I am looking forward to making home at Hull FC having heard a lot of good things about the club and the city."
Evans will link up with former NRL playmaker Josh Reynolds at Hull FC, while fellow Aussie Brett Hodgson will be entering his second season as coach, having guided the team to an eighth-placed finish in 2021.
Hodgson spoke about what Evans will bring to the side.
"Kane is a big unit and his addition to our squad brings another level of power, aggression and size next season, and we’re pleased to have another key player tied down for 2022," Hodgson said.
"He’s got a wealth of experience having played consistently in the NRL for the best part of a decade, and a competitive streak which is clear to see when he takes to the field.
"He also brings an impressive offload game which can help us develop our second phase of attack further and threaten opposition teams across the park."
The move to England brings to an end a 130-game NRL career for the Fijian international.
After debuting with the Roosters in 2014, Evans played 74 games for the Tricolours before a 2018 move to Parramatta.
Evans joined the Warriors ahead of the 2021 season but was granted an early release after mutual agreement, the club confirmed earlier this month.
"By mutual agreement we’ve parted ways amicably to enable Kane to pursue opportunities in the Super League," Warriors recruitment manager Peter O’Sullivan said.
"We thank Kane for the contribution he has made this season and wish him all the best for his future in England."
Evans was facing a six-game ban to start the 2022 NRL season after he was charged for two separate incidents in the Warriors' final-round match against the Titans.
The enforcer's disciplinary record had become a concern for the club, with any charge compounded by the significant loading Evans carried.
Evans had been suspended for one-match in August after he lashed out at Will Chambers following a verbal barrage, while he was also fined $5,000 earlier in the season when cameras picked up a handwritten message on his wrist strapping: "Fold some c**t."
