Josh King has inked a two-year extension with Melbourne, keeping him at the club until at least the end of 2025.

The lock-forward was off-contract at the end of this season but the Storm weren't keen to let him test the open market, with King establishing himself as a vital part of the side in the past 12 months.

King joined the club after spending five years with Newcastle and has gone on to play 26 games for Melbourne, with the majority of those coming in the starting No.13 role.

The 27-year-old represented the Prime Minister's XIII at the end of last season and brought up 100 NRL games towards the end of Melbourne's 2022 campaign

“I have been able to play my best footy while here in Melbourne and I hope to continue improving over the next few years," he said.

"I enjoy living in Melbourne and being part of the Melbourne Storm club. I have built many great friendships with both players and staff.

“I am really happy to lock in a couple more years and look forward to seeing what we can achieve.

"The Storm feels like home."

King's extension sees him join the likes of Tui Kamikamica, Christian Welch and Ryan Papenhuyzen in the group of players signed until 2025.

Melbourne have also added promising young forward Lazarus Vaalepu for the next two seasons.

The 23-year-old has been a standout for the Sunshine Coast Falcons in QLD Cup and will join the club's development squad next season before jumping to the top 30 roster the following year.
