Manly Sea Eagles forward Jack Gosiewski has been charged with a grade one shoulder charge for his late hit on Cowboys playmaker Johnathan Thurston.

Gosiewski will receive a one-match ban if he takes the early guilty plea, but could face two matches if he fights the charge and is unsuccessful.

The incident occurred in the 16th minute of the Sea Eagles 26-12 loss to North Queensland, knocking Thurston to the ground and requiring assistance from club trainers.

The brutal late hit immediately received criticism from a number of experts including Channel Nine's Andrew Johns who says "It's got to stop."

Thurston also blew up at the post-game press conference over the hit.

“It shits me,” Thurston said.

“It’s not part of our team, the way that we go about our business.

“What’s it going to take? (Does a player) have to get a broken rib and be out for three or four weeks before they really stamp down on it?

“There’s a difference where you take it into the line and you’re trying to create space and you get whacked when you’re at the line, and I can take that.

“When you pass the ball and I’m relaxed - and it’s not just halfbacks, it happens to front-rowers too – (it’s not on).”

The night didn't end well for Gosiewski who left the field with an arm injury, with X-rays later confirming the injury to be a broken arm.

Gosiewski underwent surgery on Friday, and will be sidelined for the next six weeks with the injury.

The former Rabbitoh has only managed five games for his new club since making the move to the northern beaches after he suffered a broken hand earlier this season.

However, Gosiewski made light of his injury on social media after X-rays revealed the break.
