The Penrith Panthers completed a storybook finish this NRL season, farewelling a number of club legends with a fourth-straight premiership victory.

One such player was Jarome Luai, the electric halves pairing to Nathan Cleary that has helped both the Panthers and NSW to success over the last half-decade.

With Luai now headed to the Wests Tigers, one of the team's rising stars is eager to see how the championship mentality can rub off on the rest of the group.

Lachlan Galvin ready to welcome Jarome Luai from Panthers

Despite three straight wooden spoons, there is plenty to be excited about for West Tigers fans, set to enter into a new era as bonafide star Jarome Luai comes across to join prodigy Lachlan Galvin in the halves.

According to Galvin, he is eager to see how Luai can help transform the side back into a true contender, and how he can unlock his game on an individual level.

"When he signed at the back end of last year, we all thought he was good, that he was going to come here and help us," Galvin told the SMH.

"But throughout this year he has just been incredible with what he’s done. With Nathan [Cleary] being out for so long, he has just carried that team.

"He’s a genuine halfback, he can get a team around the park. You can even feel on Sunday night in the grand final how good he was. I can’t wait.

"He’s going to be massive for our club and will completely change the whole culture and lead us to a top-eight position in the years to come.

"Just his winning mindset and his winning culture, he will change all that. I can’t wait until he pops in for preseason. He is going to be massive."

"We know what it feels like, we just need to work hard and we have genuine champions coming across. They will put the polish on it for us and I feel we’re a genuine top-eight chance next year."
