Dylan Brown news: NRL issues Parramatta Eels star with breach notice, suspension image

The NRL issued Dylan Brown with a breach notice on Monday afternoon following the league's integrity unit's review of the Parramatta Eels player's recent court proceedings.

Brown faced Sydney’s Downing Centre Local Court last week where he was sentenced to a community corrections order for a period of 18 months after pleading guilty to two charges of sexual touching.

Dylan Brown issued breach notice by NRL, receives suspension and fine

In their breach notice, the NRL have proposed a seven-match suspension and a $40,000 fine - $20,000 of which is suspended - for Brown.

The 23-year-old has also been directed to engage in and complete relevant education and training as advised by the NRL.

The suspended half of Brown's fine will be immediately payable should he fail to complete the education and training or breach the NRL Code of Conduct again within the next 12 months.

“The NRL does not tolerate unlawful conduct of any nature let alone offences against women," NRL CEO Andrew Abdo said.

“The education and training requirements will be specifically targeted at rehabilitation and prevention.

"It will also reinforce Dylan’s responsibilities as an NRL player, particularly the responsible consumption of alcohol and the impact his behaviour has had, most importantly on the victim, but also on others, his club and the game as a whole”.

Brown and the Eels have five business days to respond to the breach notice.

When will Dylan Brown return to the NRL?

Assuming the terms of the breach notice are accepted, Brown will be spending four more matches on the sidelines, having already served three matches of his proposed ban.

This could see him return to the field as soon as Round 23 for a home fixture against the Dragons on August 6.

The Eels would then play three more games before their bye in the final week of the regular season.

Parramatta Eels issue statement following Dylan Brown breach notice

The Eels released a short statement on Monday following the NRL's decision to issue Brown with a breach notice.

The club acknowledged the suspension and fine before indicating their intention to finalise the matter with the NRL shortly.

"Under the terms of the breach notice, the club and Dylan have a 5 day period available to consider the terms of the breach and the proposed sanctions," the statement read.

"We will work with the NRL in the coming days in finalising this matter."
