The 2024 NRL campaign has reached its penultimate regular-season weekend, and with the race for the eighth and final play-off place tighter than ever between five competing teams ahead of Round 26, two of those sides will face off at Suncorp Stadium – it's the small matter of a Brisbane derby too, as the Dolphins and Broncos go head-to-head in the fight for a finals spot.

Sat ninth and 10th on the ladder respectively, the Broncos and Dolphins are locked level on 26 points and are only separated by way of 29 points difference going into the second-last round of the regular season. Both trail St. George Illawarra in eighth by two points, and whoever comes away from Suncorp with a defeat can likely call time on their push for the finals this season.

The Sporting News is on hand to bring you all the latest TV schedule information, live streaming and start times for this highly anticipated Brisbane Derby match in Round 26, and although the Dolphins are designated as the 'home' side for this one, expect Suncorp to be split down the middle with alternating shades of red, maroon and gold.

Dolphins vs. Brisbane Broncos match preview

These two sides are neck-and-neck on the NRL ladder and look set for a Queensland derby which could go right down to the wire at Suncorp this weekend, but it's worth noting that going into Round 25, the Dolphins led their Brisbane neighbours by two points before they were put to the sword by Melbourne, in a 48-6 away defeat which saw the Storm lift the Minor Premiership.

That crushing loss at AAMI Park not only saw the Dolphins miss the chance to draw level with the eighth-placed Dragons, their points difference also took a significant hit and now stands at –29. The Broncos, meanwhile, pipped Parramatta Eels 30-24 at Suncorp to keep their own finals hopes alive, and are the best placed of the four teams in ninth-12th going into Round 26.

Lang Park awaits these two sides with the city of Brisbane set to be split down the middle once more, as it was for this season's first derby back in Round Six. The Broncos' experience got them over the line in a 28-14 April victory which was one of the games of the 2024 season so far, but with only one place in the finals up for grabs, the Dolphins will be hoping to return the favour.
