Daniel Mortimer has announced his retirement from the game.

Mortimer's career concluded with a two-season stint at English Championship side Leigh Centurions.

The 29-year-old had nine seasons in the NRL between 2009 and 2017.

He debuted at Parramatta, helping them to a grand final appearance in his first season off the back of a brilliant 10-week run of form from Jarryd Hayne.

In 2012, he moved to the tricolours, and was used off the bench as a back-up hooker to Jake Friend in the 2013 grand final, in which the Roosters prevailed over Manly.

He also played in the Roosters' 2014 World Club Challenge winning team which defeated Wigan.

After leaving the Bondi-based club mid-season in 2014, Mortimer joined the Gold Coast Titans, where he remained until the end of 2016.

His final stop in the NRL was at the Cronulla Sharks, where he played just two games in 2017 before commencing his brief UK stint.

Mortimer played a total of 128 games in the NRL.

Son of Bulldogs legend Peter, the utility was strongly linked to a move to his father's club in 2010, but that never eventuated.
