Cronulla Sharks captain Paul Gallen gets hammered by obstacle on Australian Ninja Warrior image

Cronulla Sharks captain Paul Gallen has had a massive collision with an obstacle while appearing on Channel Nine programme Australian Ninja Warrior.

Gallen, who weighs 105kg, seemed to be having few issues with the course, until he got to what's known as the bridge of blades.

The 36-year-old crashed into one of the blades, and went tumbling into the water below.

It was a moment where Sharks coach Shane Flanagan was sure to have his heart in his mouth.

Gallen told Andrew Flintoff, the former England cricket all-rounder who is a presenter on the programme, he hasn't encountered many hits like it in his 316-game NRL career.

"No way, that was one of the biggest, that was unreal," he said.
