Canberra have pulled off another major recruitment and retention coup, extending the contract of cult hero Corey Horsburgh until the end of the 2027 NRL season.

The lock-forward has become a fan favourite in the nation's capital since making his debut 2019, playing 82 games for the Green Machine and earning his State of Origin debut during this year's series.

In a club statement released on Wednesday, Horsburgh spoke of his excitement at inking his new deal while locking his sights on future success in the nation’s capital.

"I’m really happy to be remaining in Canberra and re-signing with the Raiders, the club that has given me the opportunity to play NRL and this year Origin," Horsburgh said.

"I want to keep building and improving my game and I’m really excited about staying with the Raiders and continuing to become a better player and help this club achieve success."

The 25-year-old joins the likes of Joseph Tapine, Hudson Young and Seb Kris in committing long-term to Canberra with the enforcer establishing himself as a key member of the Raiders’ pack this season.

"Corey has continued to improve his game and this season he’s been able to take his game to the next level and become an Origin player," the club’s Recruitment Manager, Joel Carbone, said.

"Having Corey re-sign with the club long-term allows us to continue to create some stability and consistency in our forward pack and he will continue to be a big part of the team into the future.

"Corey has developed into a representative player here at the Canberra Raiders and we know he still has a lot of improvement in his game; we expect to see the best of his talent over the next four years."

Horsburgh was contracted until the end of next season with the Raiders, but his new three-year deal will see him earn an estimated $2.3 million according to The Courier Mail.
