Canterbury's dire day in Kogarah was summed up in two coach-killing plays as the Dragons gave them a 40-4 hiding on Sunday afternoon.

The tough luck started when St George Illawarra halfback Ben Hunt shifted the momentum with a brilliant one-on-one strip while defending his line, inspiring a long range try for Tim Lafai in the same set.

Not like the Dragons needed any favours, the demoralised Bulldogs later gifted their opposition two easy tries coming off their own line.

Centre Kerrod Holland rolled the ball into dangerous territory with an aimless offload only for Hunt to strike again, grubbering the Steeden into the in-goal and grounding it cleanly.

Having struggled under the high ball last week, the Dragons put Jayden Okunbor to the test again and their homework paid off as the rookie coughed it up into the hands of Hunt who found Zac Lomax for a try with his first touch of the night.

The performance was a stark difference from their effort against Melbourne last week where they took the remaining undefeated side to the death.

Canterbury now have just one win on the board from their first five games, while the Dragons have shaken off a slow start to sneak into the top eight with three consecutive wins.
