The Bulldogs are on the hunt for a new elite winger, after the Josh Addo-Carr drug scandal proved to be the end of the former NSW representative's time at the club.
After an impressive year, Addo-Carr missed the team's return to finals football, sitting out following a positive road-side drug test.
It wasn't immediately clear what the fallout from this issue would be, but it seems that the club has replaced the disgraced star, who will now be on the search for a new home.
Bulldogs raid Warriors for Addo-Carr replacement
It didn't take long for the Bulldogs to find their replacement for Addo-Carr, with the team set to bring in former Warriors winger Marcelo Montoya.
Montoya was released from the final year of his contract with the Warriors Friday, clearing the way for a homecoming for the player who was a Bulldog from 2014 in their Harold Matthews through until 2020.
Now with a spot on the wing opening up, the Bulldogs are bringing Montoya back to Belmore, as they look to level up from their impressive 2024 season.
"We were happy for Marcelo to see out his contract with us but we’re really pleased he has found a club back in Australia giving him longer term security," Warriors general manager recruitment, pathways and development Andrew McFadden said
"He has been a terrific person to have at our club for the last four seasons. He made a major contribution on and off the field and we wish him and his wife Tayla all the best for their future."
Montoya made 19 appearances for the Warriors in 2024, scoring eight tries and running for 126 metres per game.
