Brisbane Broncos v New Zealand Warriors: Andrew McCullough sent to sin-bin for throwing punches at Chris Satae image

Incumbent Maroons hooker Andrew McCullough is lucky to find himself still on the field after throwing some wild haymakers at New Zealand Warriors' forward Chris Satae.

The Broncos number nine took exception to the way that Satae was carrying the ball, where it appeared the big Kiwi led with his elbow and made contact with McCullough's throat.

The 28-year-old immediately reacted to his opponent's actions and was shown to be nursing a sore throat in the moments following the incident.

Both sides came together in a melee following the punches that McCullough threw, before both he and Satae were sent to the sin-bin.

The Warriors traveled to Suncorp Stadium for a rare Sunday afternoon clash with the hopes of rejuvenating their season.

The Kiwis had lost two matches on the trot heading into Sunday's fixture and find themselves in eighth position on the ladder after spending most of the season inside the top four.

The match at Red Hill couldn't have started much better for the men from across the ditch, with Solomone Kata, Gerard Beale and Issac Luke crossing the chalk to build a 16-0 halftime lead.

This was before the fight that lead to both players losing a man for ten minutes.
