Broncos coach Anthony Seibold has leapt to the defence of his halves after a rival suggested the Brisbane playmakers have a tendency to "crack under pressure".

Ahead of St George Illawarra's trip to Brisbane on Thursday night, Dragons centre Euan Aitken was critical of Broncos playmakers Anthony Milford and Kodi Nikorima.

While much talk has been about Brisbane's rampaging pack, led by runaway train Tevita Pangai Jnr, Aitken suggested Brisbane are papering over the cracks with a weak halves pairing.

Criticism of St George Illawarra's spine later fell the way of Andrew Johns, with the retired legend suggesting Dragons coach Paul McGregor should make drastic changes after the Red V fell to a disappointing 0-2 start to the season.

Seibold not only dismissed Aitken's comments, but guaranteed Milford and Nikorima of their spots in the team.

"I didn't see that interview [with Aitken] and I'm not sure of the context, but I have alluded a few times to how I really trust and value with Kodi and Milf bring to the group," Seibold told reporters.

"I've got a lot of confidence in those two guys, they're our halfbacks, and I won't be making a change unless required through injury or suspension.

"They've got the jerseys at No. 7 and No. 6, I've got great trust in what they're going to bring to the group.

"I have no doubt they'll improve as we progress through the season."

Alex Glenn Anthony Milford

Seibold has spent the week defending his players after reports emerged that veteran Broncos forward Alex Glenn is on the outer at the club.

Reports suggested Glenn is being shopped to rival NRL and Super League clubs for a switch before June 30.

The reports prompted Glenn to post to social media, before Seibold rubbished the rumours and said Glenn is wanted at Red Hill.

It was much of the same stonewalling from Seibold as he backed his playmakers - and the former Bunnies coach said if the Broncos forwards reflect what they did against North Queensland last week, then his halves will run riot against the Dragons.

"I do know that unless your forwards are going forward and being dominant, then your halves don't have a lot of time," Seibold continued.

"It's really tough for halves under pressure, playing out of our end.

"Melbourne did a great job on us in round one, but we were strong against the Cowboys last week."
