NSWRL have officially released Michael Maguire, with the veteran coach set to take up the reins at the Brisbane Broncos.
After a successful 2024 State of Origin series, the Broncos have brought Maguire in to replace former coach Kevin Walters, who was released following a disappointing season that saw them miss the top eight after their 2023 grand final appearance.
But one NSW veteran is not happy with the move, calling out Maguire for walking out on the team.

Aaron Woods slams Michael Maguire for abandoning NSW
When the Blues took down Queensland this season, it was seen by many as the start of a potential dynasty with Maguire at the helm.
But less than a year later and the team is now seeking a new head coach, causing former NSW player Aaron Woods to hit out at Madge for not fulfilling his commitment to the team.
"I’m filthy because he did it to New Zealand as well, we’re not the only stepping stone," Woods said on The Rush Hour.
"Gets the opportunity to coach New South Wales Blues comes out and says he wants to get the state and everyone behind him, which we do we all support him.
"We thought gee, this could be a dynasty for the Blues, [then he] gets a better job at the Brisbane Broncos and moves on.
"I’m pretty filthy as a New South Wales Blues fan."
Maguire was officially released from his NSW contract via a statement Tuesday morning, leaving the Blues searching for their third coach in three years.
