NRL try-scorers: Josh Addo-Carr scores double and moves to second as Valentine Holmes becomes sole leader image

We have a new outright leader in the NRL try-scoring charts, with Valentine Holmes' sole four-pointer against the Sea Eagles enough to push him in front of Souths winger Robert Jennings.

But Val needs to keep one eye on the prize, and another on a speeding fox behind him as Josh Addo-Carr's brace pushes him into equal second place, just one meat pie behind Holmes.

The Storm flyer is six tries behind his 2017 tally of 23, and with a long finals series ahead of him, it seems all but assured the NSW Blues winger will break his own personal record.

Valentine Holmes could only manage the one try in Cronulla's shock golden point loss to the Sea Eagles, leaving the Sharks sitting in sixth spot on the NRL ladder after back-to-back losses.

Soon to be St George Illawarra Dragons forward Korbin Sims scored a double in the Broncos' terrible loss to the Bulldogs, and the big man can count himself unlucky to not have snared a hat-trick.

In the New Zealand Warriors big win over the Red V, Solomone Kata crossed the chalk twice.

While the Eels turned it on against a lacklustre Titans outfit and won 28-12, Anthony Don moved up the leaderboard with a brace.

Shaun Lane continued his great form for Manly in the battle of the beaches and scored his seventh and eighth tries of the season.

Tyrone Peachey impressed again at fullback for Penrith in a two-try performance, as once more the Panthers showed fans that they don't know how to play football until their opponents have put some hurt on them.

The Raiders capitulation at the hands of Penrith was made even more surprising considering Joey Leilua scored a hat-trick for the Green Machine.
