After adding two years to superstar Alex Rance’s contract on Thursday, Richmond has announced another big signing, extending first-year young-gun Jack Higgin’s contract till the end of 2021.

Higgins has played 11 games since debuting spectacularly against Hawthorn in round three.

Initially played as a small forward and kicking seven goals - or ‘snags’ as Higgins likes to call them – in his first three games, Damien Hardwick has given the 19-year-old more time in the midfield over recent weeks.

Higgins’ involvement in games has risen accordingly and he gathered 25 disposals in the Tigers’ big round 16 win over Adelaide.

Richmond's football manager Neil Balme said Higgins had already made a big impact on the club.

"Jack has made an exciting start to his football career and is settling into the club very well for a young man," Balme told AFL.com.au on Friday.

"We're looking forward to him continuing his development both on and off the field, he's a great talent and addition to our club."

As promising as his football has been, Higgins is making an even bigger impression for his half-time ‘rev-ups’ and post match interviews.

With the round 15 clash against fellow top-of-the-ladder aspirant Sydney in the balance, Higgins was seen giving his more experienced teammates a unique speech after the long break, something Shane Edwards said is becoming a game-day ritual for the Tigers.

"He just gives us an extra rev-up," Edwards said after the win against the Swans.

"He's done it the last few weeks. Nothing relaxes the boys and gets them up more than a 'Higgo' speech. There's a lot of mumbles and a lot of stumbles, but we love it."
