Who will win the Premier League? Betting odds and prediction for 2024/25 season title winner image

In the never-ending cycle of football, the 2024-25 Premier League season is already back on the horizon, with clubs ramping up preparations after a pre-season interrupted by international tournaments.

Manchester City have won the last four Premier Leagues in a row but were made to work until the final day by Arsenal last year, who have strengthened well in the summer.

Liverpool will be under new management for the first time since 2015 as the Arne Slot era begins at Anfield.

Tottenham and Aston Villa will look to build on positive 2023-24 seasons, whilst Manchester United and Chelsea will look to recover from, well, less positive seasons.

Many teams will be harbouring dreams of lifting the famous trophy next May, but only one team will get the honour; The Sporting News looks at which team is the favourite to win the 2024-25 Premier League season.

Who will win 2024-25 Premier League? Betting odds and favourites

It is little surprise to see Man City as favourites to win a truly astonishing fifth Premier League title in a row, though there is less certainty than in previous years.

They still have a star-studded team whose reserves could probably challenge for the top four, and arguably the best manager in the world in Pep Guardiola, but they were pushed by an Arsenal side last season, whose young and exciting side will only get better.

Some of Man City's England stars struggled at the Euros, whilst discussion over Guardiola's future in the final year of his contract could disrupt City's quest for another title.

As it stands, they are priced at 2.60 to win the title, with Arsenal very close behind at 2.70; bookmakers seem to think it will be a two-horse race, with Liverpool well back in third, priced at 7.00 to challenge in Arne Slot's first season as coach.

2024-25 Premier League winner prediction

  • The Sporting News prediction: Arsenal (2.70)

This is a prediction that is partially based on a gut feeling, but this could just be the year the Gunners end their 21-year title drought.

All their key players are back, fit and firing, and they will also have the services of brilliant young defender Jurrien Timber, who missed most of last season due to injury.

They have also added Italian Riccardo Calafiori, who shot to prominence in the Euros with his quality displays and dashing looks (did someone say aura?).

Kai Havertz and Leandro Trossard's strong form at the end of last season seems to have answered the doubts about Arsenal's front line, and their fully fit midfield is one of the best in the league.

Injuries in that part of the field could be the only thing to derail Mikel Arteta's side, but they have been building for a few seasons now and will have learned a great deal from two failed title pushes.

It will take a herculean effort in a season with little to no margin for error, but if it all comes together for The Arsenal, they may just be able to overcome the all-conquering Manchester City.

Premier League winners since 1992

Only seven sides have won the Premier League in the 31 seasons of its existence, with the two Manchester teams being the dominant forces in the league.

Under the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson, Manchester United won a staggering 13 titles in 20 seasons, with their rivalry with Arsenal becoming a recurring theme in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

Chelsea then muscled their way in thanks to the money of Roman Abramovich, but for much of the 2010s and the 2020s it has been Manchester City who have dominated, winning eight of the last 12 titles.

Liverpool broke their 30-year Premier League drought in 2020, whilst the two most surprising winners were Blackburn Rovers in 1994-95, and Leicester City's scarcely believable triumph in 2015-16.
