Lleyton Hewitt may have bowed out of his last Hopman Cup, but he did so in style - and with a cheeky jab at the AFL-mad crowd in Perth.

The former world number one, who will retire after the Australian Open later this month, lost his singles match to Alexandr Dolgopolov after he and Australia Gold teammate Jarmila Wolfe went down to Ukraine in the doubles.

It was Hewitt's last appearance in Perth and he was determined to leave his mark.

In his post-match interview, the 34-year-old was asked if he had a message for all his fans.

Standing in front of what would have predominantly been West Coast or Fremantle fans, the staunch Adelaide Crows supporter couldn't resist a bit of friendly AFL banter.
