Zimbabwe captain Elton Chigumbura said former Pakistan coach Dav Whatmore had already given his team insights ahead of the Cricket World Cup clash on Sunday.
Whatmore coached Pakistan from March 2012 to February 2014, and was appointed at the helm of Zimbabwe in December last year.
The Sri Lankan-born 60-year-old is sharing his former team's secrets, Chigumbura said on Saturday.
"He [Whatmore] knows almost everyone on the team, so when it comes to strategies and stuff, it's much better to have someone who has been working with Pakistan guys," he said.
"So we've got more information. We just have to go and execute our plans tomorrow."
Zimbabwe are fifth in Pool B, while winless Pakistan are struggling at the bottom of the standings and desperately need a win in Brisbane on Sunday.
Chigumbura said the focus for his team in the lead-up had been on their death bowling.
"What's important for us is make sure we polish up where we're going wrong which is on our bowling," he said.
"The last couple of overs at the death, and the main focus is on our game.
"Obviously, we have to carry on with the form with the bat, and hopefully we can cover all the bases from batting, bowling, and fielding."
