Kevin Yombor, the attorney for tennis star Venus Williams in a wrongful death lawsuit, obtained an emergency order to temporarily prevent a data download on the vehicle occupied by the man killed in a two-car accident involving Williams.

“The on-board data of both vehicles will be critical evidence,” Yombor argued to the court (via the Sun-Sentinel).
“The actions taken by Plaintiff should not occur until … a procedure is in place to ensure that the data of each vehicle is properly collected.”
Williams’ 2010 Toyota Sequoia and a 2016 Hyundai Accent occupied by Jerome Barson, 78, and his wife collided June 9. Barson died from his injuries June 22.
Linda Barson, 68, was driving the Hyundai and also required hospitalisation for numerous injuries.
The police report listed Williams' speed as 5 mph and the Barsons’ speed as 25 mph at the time of the accident at a Palm Beach Gardens intersection.
However, data downloaded from the vehicles could provide further information regarding the speed of each vehicle.
Williams, who is currently competing at Wimbledon, has not been cited with any traffic violations and police say the crash remains under investigation.
