United States Ryder Cup captain Davis Love III has been confirmed as the second assistant captain to Jay Haas for the Presidents Cup.

Love has succeeded Tom Watson as US skipper for the next instalment of the Ryder Cup at Hazeltine in 2016.

The 1997 PGA Championship winner will lead the team for the second time after overseeing the infamous 2012 contest in which USA surrendered a 10-6 lead on the final day, as Europe fought back to win 14 and a half to 13 and a half in what became dubbed "The Miracle of Medinah".

Before then Love will act as assistant for Haas as USA attempt to win a sixth straight Presidents Cup against the International Team in South Korea in October.

Love, who will join Fred Couples as an assistant, said: "I'm ready to help Jay and the team as much as I can as a captain's assistant.

"Jay and I were successful as assistants for the last Presidents Cup in 2013, and I am very excited to join him and the team in South Korea.

"I love being in the team room and positively impacting the side anyway I can."

International Team skipper Nick Price rounded off his team by naming Mark McNulty and Tony Johnstone as captain's assistants - the duo joining vice-captain K.J. Choi.
