James Vince feels England fans may need to be patient with Jonathan Trott in his return to the Test team.
Trott was selected to opening the batting alongside Alastair Cook in the first Test with the West Indies after leaving the team during the 2013-14 Ashes with a stress-related illness.
But Trott's first Test for 17 months, which ended in a draw, was a disappointing one as he went for a three-ball duck in the first innings before departing for just four in the second.
However, Vince - who joined Trott on the England Lions tour of South Africa earlier this year in which they both scored centuries - told Perform: "I think he [Trott] showed in the winter when we were away with the Lions that he was back to his best.
"It would have been nice to see him get some runs in his first game, but it's his first Test match back.
"I'm sure settling back in after what's happened might take a bit of time but hopefully he will get a score under his belt before the end of the tour."
Asked about his own England ambitions, Hampshire batsman Vince added: "I'm aspiring to play for England, it was a good tour for me in the winter with the Lions.
"I've come back here with Hampshire and early season, right the way throughout the season, [I'll look to] put some runs on the board and see what happens."
England and the Windies start the second Test in Grenada on Tuesday.
