There were chaotic and comical scenes toward the end of Stage 7 of the Tour de France on Friday when an inflatable arch collapsed as a group of riders neared the finish line.
The structure has a red flag to indicate that there is one kilometer remaining. Several riders were affected by its fall during the 162.5-kilometer ride from L'Isle-Jourdain to Lac de Payolle.

Several riders were caught up as race officials and spectators tried to clear the road.
Until that point, the 2016 Tour had passed with relatively few incidents. There had been no abandonments in the first six stages for the first time in the race's history.
