Former Tottenham captain Ledley King hopes his club has more joy at the Melbourne Cricket Ground than English cricketers in the International Champions Cup (ICC) in July.

Tottenham will take on Juventus and Atletico Madrid at the 100,000-capacity stadium, which King has seen numerous times on television when England have been on Ashes tours, and the club ambassador reckons it will be interesting to see the MCG "packed with football fans".

In the 2015 ICC, Real Madrid versus Manchester City drew a crowd of 99,382.

"It's an iconic stadium and I know it as a tough place to come for English cricketers, so it's great to have the opportunity to come out here and to watch Tottenham taking on Atletico, Juventus and Melbourne Victory in July," King told Goal Australia.

"So I'm very much looking forward to seeing it packed with football fans."

Melbourne Victory will also be involved in the ICC, as they will open the Australian leg of the pre-season series against Juve on July 23.

Juventus will take on Tottenham three days later, while Atleti are the Premier League club's other opponents on July 29.

Australian fans could see three European league champions in the ICC this year, with Tottenham chasing Leicester City in the Premier League, Juventus almost certain to claim a fifth straight Serie A crown, and Atleti level on points with Barcelona in La Liga.

"Just before the Manchester United game [on April 10], the gap [between Leicester and Tottenham] was at 10 points and now it's down to five," King said.

"So just shows you what can happen in a couple of games. So I'm hoping we can chip away again this weekend."

Regardless of whether Tottenham wins the Premier League or not, King has warned the London-based club not to waste the inroads they've made on the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal next season.

"It's been an unbelievable season so far and I think the team has probably exceeded expectations in the way they've performed, and how well they've come on from last season," he said.

"So for the team to win the Premier League would be unbelievable but it's still important to remember how far the team has come just from one year ago, and the most important thing is to just maintain that going forward."

Ledley King spoke to Goal Australia in the lead up to the International Champions Cup Australia, presented by Audi.
