New Zealand Warriors have confirmed full-back Sam Tomkins will be released from his contract early and replaced by Roger Tuivasa-Sheck at the end of the season.
England international Tomkins arrived from Wigan Warriors in 2013 and signed a three-year deal at Mt Smart Stadium, but will be allowed to leave due to homesickness.
National Rugby League side New Zealand Warriors have moved swiftly to replace the 26-year-old, bringing in New Zealand international Tuivasa-Sheck on a long-term deal, with Tomkins likely to return to Super League.
Wigan have been credited with an interest in signing Tomkins, who told his current club's official website: "I never imagined it would reach this point.
"This is a great club and I can't say enough about the coaching staff. I love being with the lads and it's a brilliant country to live in, but I can only be honest and say I miss home in ways I never thought I would.
"I'm truly grateful to the Warriors for agreeing to give me an early release and I am so determined to repay them for their consideration. All I want now is to get back out on the field to help us have a great season."
New Zealand Warriors sit 11th on the NRL ladder, having won two of their opening five matches.
