Now into its 29th season, The Simpsons might be running low on ideas but the show continues to prove its predictive powers.
MORE: Norway breaks U.S. record for most medals won at single Winter Games
Having successfully predicted Donald Trump becoming US President and the FIFA bribery scandal to name but two, the animated comedy has struck gold (literally) once more, with America's first ever gold medal in curling at the 2018 Winter Olympics depicted in a Simpsons episode eight years ago.
In the episode titled 'Boy Meets Curl', Homer and Marge form a curling partnership with Marge overcoming a shoulder injury to ensure the duo claimed an unlikely gold medal at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.
Considering America have never excelled at the sport, it was a result seemingly defined to the realms of cartoon reality until the US men's curling team triumphed at this year's Games.
They saw off Sweden in dramatic fashion in the deciding match, the same nation Homer and Marge incidentally beat too...
Having churned out 629 episodes since its premiere in 1989, it's not all that surprising The Simpsons have seen some of their storylines become reality but you've still got to hand it to their writers.
No one could have predicted that the US would win curling gold, right? Actually, the Simpsons did in a February 14, 2010 episode. They beat Sweden, who the US happened to beat to win gold today (H/T @dansnierson) pic.twitter.com/0gkhycQ3xF
