While promoter Phil Franks has received a fairly warm response from union officials, the same can't be said for the league's top brass.
"It's not their idea so they don’t want to know about it
"We've got walls to break down at the NRL. It might take a bit of time but one day it will happen."
One high-ranked league official can't believe the head-in-the-sand stance being taken by the NRL.
He told The Repeat Set: "The league universe is so small so why wouldn't you put it on the international stage? Imagine the exposure if the Kangaroos were to play the Wallabies or England rugby side at Twickenham."
