Tennis Australia (TA) reiterated its support for Nick Kyrgios in the wake of the Australian's controversial sledge aimed at Stan Wawrinka.
Kyrgios has apologised and been fined for the sledge, which came during his win over the two-time grand slam champion at the Rogers Cup on Wednesday.
The 20-year-old was heavily criticised for the remark about Wawrinka and the Swiss' girlfriend.
In a statement released on Friday, TA said: "Nick Kyrgios has apologised to all involved for his comments on court in Montreal yesterday and deeply regrets his actions.
"Tennis Australia is working closely with Nick and his team to provide the best possible support; we understand how important it is to help educate and influence him both on and off the court.
"Appropriately the ATP, as the governing body in this case, has issued the maximum fine and continues to review and work through this situation with Nick and his management."
It came after the ATP handed Kyrgios a second fine on top of the maximum $10,000, issuing him with a $2,500 punishment for a comment made to a ball person.
Further penalties may follow after the ATP served Kyrgios with a "notice of investigation".
Kyrgios' sledge has been widely condemned by fellow players, including an unhappy Wawrinka who described it as "not only unacceptable but also beyond belief".
