Former world number one Lee Chong Wei appears set to return at the SEA Games despite still being suspended.
Lee faced a Badminton World Federation (BWF) doping hearing on April 11 after being provisionally suspended in November.
The 32-year-old was banned due to an adverse analytical finding relating to a sample taken at the world championships in August last year.
The Malaysian is said to have tested positive for banned anti-inflammatory drug dexamethasone.
With Rio 2016 in his sights, Lee said he wanted to play the team event at Singapore 2015 – which opens on June 5.
"I'll only play in the team event as the BAM [Badminton Association of Malaysia] plan to send me for a tournament which will clash with the SEA Games’ competition," he said.
"So it's important for me to start collecting points through the world ranking tournaments in order to improve on my position.
"It's the Olympics that matters. There's no time to be wasted come this May 1 when the one-year Rio 2016 qualification period commences."
Lee is expected to know the verdict of his doping hearing by early May.
