Warriors point guard Stephen Curry ended all doubt about whether or not he could repeat as league MVP when he exploded for 53 points on just 27 shots Saturday in a 134-120 win against the Pelicans.
What more is there to say? He's simply the best player in the game right now.
Curry was most dominant in the third quarter when he exploded for 28 points. He outscored the whole Pelicans team in that frame. Not only has he made scoring look easy through three games this season, his 53 points were just one point short of a career-high. Oh, and he also added 9 assists.
Poor Pelicans. After giving up 40 points to Curry in Tuesday's season opener, New Orleans looked helpless Saturday while falling to 0-3.
Anthony Davis led the Pelicans with 26 points and 15 rebounds. Jrue Holiday — who was only supposed to play 15 minutes while recovering from injury — scored 22 points in 27 minutes.
Draymond Green scored 21 points for the Warriors, while Klay Thompson added 19 points.
