In sports, we often use stats when telling our stories.

But what happens when the stories are the stats?

This is a series that puts words to the numbers, defines the digits, and tells the stories of the stats, be they minuscule or monumental.

This is SN Crunched:

EPISODE ONE: HOW MUCH DID THE DRAGONS BBQ COST?

In July of 2021, the St. George Illawarra Dragons celebrated a win over the New Zealand Warriors with a team barbecue.

The issue? This was smack bang in the middle of the country's COVID lockdown, and by doing it they violated not only NRL rules but federal laws.

Over the course of the rest of their season, the Dragons would pay. Not just with money, but with games, with players, and ultimately with their season.

EPISODE TWO: THE CRICKET RECORD SHANE WARNE NEVER WANTED

Shane Warne was one of Australia's most famous athletes, and cricket's record books are littered with his name.

However, there is one record he holds that he never wanted: the most Test runs ever without a century.

But he did come close once. Closer than close. This is the story of Warnie's 99.

EPISODE THREE: GEELONG'S DECADE OF DOMINANCE

In 2011, Chris Scott led the Geelong Cats to the premiership as a rookie head coach. In 2022, he took them there again.

But what happened in the 11 years between wins?

They put together one of the most dominant periods of play the AFL had ever seen - but kept falling short of the goal.
