Swiss tennis star Roger Federer will start his 2018 in Australia after committing to return to the next Hopman Cup in Perth.

After an injury-hit 2016, Federer played mixed singles at the last Hopman Cup as preparation for the 2017 Australian Open which he went on to win.
The 35-year-old. who recently sat out of the French Open, seemingly confirming an intention to defend his Australian Open title by heading to Perth once again at the end of the year.
"I think it was the perfect preparation because I was in a good mindset and I played good tennis," Federer said of his involvement in the last Hopman Cup.
"When I went to Melbourne I could look back on some great preparation and I think that’s what helped me win the Australian Open.
"It was a great, relaxing start to the year, plus I played some really good tennis and I can't wait to play again in Perth."

Despite not playing at Roland Garros, Federer has had a resurgent 2017 to date recently claiming the Halle Open as he prepares for Wimbledon.
