Super League side Leeds Rhinos have been dealt a blow after winger Ryan Hall was ruled out for four weeks following a hand fracture.

The England international saw a specialist regarding the injury this week amid initial fears that he could require surgery, which would have meant a lay-off of up to four months.

However, the 27-year-old, who has scored three tries in his past two games, will miss just four weeks of action, starting with Sunday's trip to Salford Red Devils.

"It is a massive shame for Ryan and a big blow to us but we have dealt with and handled injuries well in the past and I am sure this will only serve to provide an opening for another of our hungry and keen academy products that have a huge desire to play for Leeds Rhinos' first team," head coach Brian McDermott told the club's official website.

"Ryan will be out for four weeks. That is not enough time to get unfit but long enough to lose his sharpness if we don't manage that time well.

"He will keep fit and strong under the supervision of [head of athletic performance] Jason Davidson and I am sure this will be beneficial to Ryan in the long run given he did not have as long a pre-season as the rest of the group because of his commitments with England."
